We are thrilled to be expanding our team with the addition of a fourth full-time Medical Oncologist, and we're seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Practice Nurse (RN) to support this growth. This role is essential in helping us continue to deliver exceptional, patient-centered cancer care.

As a Practice Nurse, you will be a key part of a collaborative care team, ensuring seamless coordination, communication, and follow-up for our patients. To support work-life balance, this is a hybrid position—once fully trained and independent, you will have the opportunity to work from home one day per week.

The Practice Nurse will work closely within the UCSF Oncology Clinic and multidisciplinary team as a clinical resource, care provider, educator and advocate.  He/She will be utilizing both nursing practices and ONS standards to assess, plan, and care for medically complex Oncology patients.  He/She will provide education to patients and families about diagnosis, treatment, symptom management, and resources.  The Practice Nurse will provide coordination of care within the Clinic as well as with other specialties.  The nurse will triage and manage acute Oncology symptoms and laboratory values utilizing both nursing process and standard operation procedures.  He/She will be responsible for obtaining authorization for oral chemotherapy and procedures as assigned.  The nurse will provide comprehensive care utilizing both scientific knowledge and practice within the scope of the California Board of Registered Nurses. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.

  1. Assesses physical, psychological, and emotional needs of patients and families.
  2. Utilizes the nursing process and ONS standards to assess, plan, and care for medically complex patients.. 
  3. Communicates with providers and staff pertinent information about patient’s care.
  4. Obtains authorizations and appropriate consent forms prior to the start of procedures and/or treatments.
  5. Obtains authorization for oral chemotherapy. Additionally, provides comprehensive chemotherapy teach for all oral chemotherapy. 
  6. Provides symptom management, financial assistance, monitoring for toxicity and adherence to oral chemotherapy.
  7. Demonstrates quality nursing care to oncology patients from diagnosis through the continuum of care to survivorship.
  8. Provides ongoing nursing skills of assessment, planning, and coordination within RN scope and ONS standards.
  9. Coordinates care and subsequent appointments with surgery, radiation, plastics, social work, genetics, and nutrition as appropriate.
  10. Participates in ongoing performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  11. Adheres to all regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.  Follows Title 22, OIG, HIPAA, State/Federal laws, and Clinic policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  1. Bachelor Of Science in Nursing
  2. Current California License
  3. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR certification
  4. Current ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card
  5. Oncology Nursing Certification Preferred
  6. Knowledge of EPIC and BEACON
  7. Minimum of 1 year of Oncology Experience
  8. Basic Windows skills including, computer data entry and keyboarding

Pay Range: $145,000-$185,000
